Dr. Mikao Usui founded the Reiki System of Healing in the early 1900’s. Reiki is a safe and gentle energy healing modality. As a Reiki Master, I am able to tap into an unlimited supply of this energy and channel it to you to support physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Historically, many cultures around the world have had the understanding that energy flows through all living things. Recently, studies by medical professionals and scientists have shown the benefit of this form of energy and its role in the body’s functioning and healing.
Reiki allows energy to move along the body’s meridian lines for increased well-being. It can also be channeled into specific energy centres (chakras) and body locations to alleviate symptoms and return your body to a balanced state. Reiki can help to relieve a variety of ailments such as pain, muscle tension, inflammation, stress, poor circulation and emotional challenges.
There are a variety of sensations that clients report feeling during a Reiki session. Some of these sensations include tingling, heat vibrations and a movement of energy throughout different areas of the body. These sensations are not to alarm you. They help facilitate the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Alternatively, you might not experience any sensations during the session itself. During a Reiki session you may experience relaxation, peace, increased energy and mental clarity.
Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment but is complementary with many treatments.

If you are a new client, I will send you an intake form to complete. This will help me gain a stronger understanding of the needs and goals associated with your session.
No, there is no dogma attached to Reiki. You do not have to believe or subscribe to any form of religion to benefit from Reiki.
Yes! Most of my clients for Reiki have sessions done from a distance. Reiki energy transcends through time and space. Therefore, Reiki can easily be done with your permission at a distance. Distance Reiki sessions are just as effective as in-person sessions. I love being able to connect with clients around the world.
It is important to be hydrated for your session so drink plenty of water. Consider abstaining from alcohol and recreational drugs 24 hours before and a few days after your session. If your session is in-person, wear loose and comfortable clothing with no jewellery if possible. It is best to not be rushed and to arrive in a calm state of mind. Please be on time. Come with an open mind and be ready to receive healing.
If the session is in-person, you relax comfortably lying on your back, fully clothed while Reiki is administered through specific hand positions placed on or above the body. The energy systems of the body including the meridians, chakras and aura are balanced. Each chakra is individually balanced by my hands placed on or over these energy centres. This then allows for the release of blocked energy which then aids in reestablishing balance and harmony. There is never any physical manipulation of the body.
If the session is done from a distance, it may take place over the phone, video call or by proxy alone. I may ask for a photo of you to help connect to your energy. It’s wonderful if you can relax during the time of your session. However, you are also free to go about your day if you are not able to do so.
During a session, you might feel some tingling and/or warming sensations. This is completely normal and a sign of the energy moving.
You might find yourself feeling either very relaxed or re-energized. Allow yourself some time to come fully back into your awareness after your session.
Be sure to drink lots of water as Reiki is detoxifying. Allow yourself time for sleep and rest after your appointment. Practice self-care and be kind to yourself.
It is not unusual for people to experience natural detoxification as the body adjusts itself to the energy shift. It is recommended that you drink some extra water and/or herbal tea so that the toxins are flushed out more readily. You may want to rest, so do your best to honour that.
Some people feel an immediate improvement in their level of pain and energy. An overall feeling of improved well-being may be experienced.
Reiki is such a safe and gentle practice that it can be received daily without any harmful side effects. Initially, a series of 3-4 sessions is recommended. This helps to remove those deep-rooted blocks in your energy system. Thereafter, I recommend listening to your body and intuition as to how often you should have a session. Usually, a subtle improvement is noticed even after the first session. However, it may take several sessions to get closer to your desired outcome. Once the initial issue has resolved, many people like to have a Reiki session every 4-6 weeks, as part of their health and wellness regime. However, I’m a firm believer in doing whatever feels right for you.
